Welcome to Social Isolation Prevention Sessions.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, higher degree research students and academics have been increasingly working from home, leading to people feeling disconnected from their colleagues. Social Isolation Prevention Sessions, or SIPS, have been developed to run on a virtual platform for academics and HDRs during this time to not only help us stay focused, but also to help us stay connected.

Work with your peers |
Match to your working style |
Join the main Zoom channel when SIPS are running to connect to HDRs and academics from around the world with a range of backgrounds. Alternatively, start your own sessions for your local networks!
Contribute and SupportIn these uncertain times, it's important to focus on keeping people from feeling unsupported and alone. You have the opportunity to contribute to new networks, resources, tools, systems, and even research!
|
Some SIPS will be about working hard to "shut up and write"; some will be about chatting and checking in; and some will be a mix of both. Find out what works best for you, and stay connected.
Find ResourcesThere has been a surge of resources to support academics and HDRs during this period made available to support your research, your physical and mental health, and your peers.

It's been good... I can see others while I'm working... it helps me not feel like I'm alone
WHO ARE WE?
SIPS has been developed by a team of PhD candidates and academic researchers across Australia to build a stronger research network and support each other through these difficult times. We recognise that the COVID-19 pandemic will not only be a long-lasting event, but have long-lasting impacts on our research futures, and are working hard to support, document, and reinforce our peers through this time.
